Appendix: AI on FluentExam (FAQ)

Last updated: August 25, 2026

This FAQ explains how FluentExam uses artificial intelligence (AI), what it means for your learning, and your rights as a user.

What is AI, and why does FluentExam use it?

AI refers to computer systems that can perform tasks typically requiring human intelligence. FluentExam uses AI to generate practice questions, grade responses, transcribe audio, and provide personalized feedback. AI allows us to offer instant feedback, 24/7 availability, and affordable pricing.

Is AI grading accurate?

Our AI is trained on standardized assessment criteria used by official exams. AI scores are practice estimates, not official results. If you believe a score is inaccurate, you can request human review within 30 days.

What data does AI process?

AI processes your written responses, audio recordings, and performance metrics to provide scoring and feedback. We do not use your personal responses to train third-party AI models without your explicit consent.

Are my audio recordings stored?

Speaking test recordings are retained for 90 days, then permanently deleted. You can request earlier deletion by contacting privacy@fluentexam.com.

Can I opt out of AI training?

Yes. You can opt out by toggling "Allow AI Training" to OFF in your Account Settings, or by emailing privacy@fluentexam.com with the subject "Opt Out of AI Training."

Can I request human review of an AI score?

Yes. Contact support@fluentexam.com within 30 days of the assessment. Our team will review your response and may confirm the score, adjust it if a technical error is found, or provide additional feedback.

What AI practices does FluentExam NOT use?

We do NOT use emotion recognition, biometric categorization, invasive profiling, or AI to make high-stakes decisions without human oversight. We comply with the EU AI Act and GDPR.

Your AI-specific rights

  • Right to know: Be informed when AI is being used.
  • Right to explanation: Understand how AI scoring works.
  • Right to human intervention: Request human review of AI-generated scores.
  • Right to opt out: Prevent your data from being used for AI training.
  • Right to deletion: Request deletion of your audio recordings and other personal data.
